The Eugene Police Department released crime statistics from the Whiteaker neighborhood during a voluntary ban on high content alcohol. Four markets participated and EPD says the crime rate dropped 70 percent. So should malt liquor be banned permanently?

The numbers are out and it appears a three month voluntary ban on markets selling high alcohol content beverages in the Whiteaker area impacted the crime rate. Eugene police estimate crime dropped by as much as 70 percent in the area.
