The "Waddling Bandit" has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a string of bank robberies in the Pacific Northwest. The judge also ordered Dante P. Dapolonia to repay the roughly $88,000 he took from banks and credit unions from Medford, Ore. to Everett, Wash.

A prolific bank robber who garnered the nickname "the waddling bandit" for his unusual gait pleaded guilty Tuesday to robbing 10 banks in Oregon and Washington – and admitted to robbing 20 more in the span of three years.

FBI's Beth Anne Steele confirmed to The Oregonian newspaper that the bureau is holding a Portland man in the long-running case that has involved 20 bank heists in Oregon and southwest Washington.
