A new era began (so to speak) began for the Sheldon Irish Monday for the start of two-a-day practices as Lane Johnson took over as head coach for his brother Marty.
The top-ranked Sheldon Irish suffered their first loss of the season and first since the 2008 quarterfinals against Lake Oswego, with a 45-14 loss at home to the Lakers. Further north, the Roseburg Indians lost to Aloha, 34-7.
Surviving yet another scare last Friday night, the Sheldon Irish remained unbeaten and are still the top-ranked team in 6A football. The Marist Spartans and their perfect record are number two in 5A.
