Dianne Sciacca has not wasted any time making herself at home in her new Conestoga hut, located in the parking lot of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Eugene.
There are currently an estimated 2,000 people living in Eugene without a home. On Saturday, two of those people were helped by a group of generous volunteers in built their own homes at the Resurrection.
A group calling itself SLEEPS - Safe Legally Entitled Emergency Places to Sleep - has set up camp in the Wayne Morse Free Speech Plaza outside the Lane County Courthouse.
Homeless advocates are pushing for a long term homeless camp at 13th and Chambers. The camp would be directly across from Cesar Chavez Elementary School, and some parents fear for their children's safety.
