Cramped school kitchens. Restrooms with cracked tiles.   Classrooms that were modern - about 60 years ago. The work isn't glamorous, but Eugene 4J School District officials said the problems need to be fixed.

Will it result in smaller class sizes and more school days? Or does a city income tax for schools let the state off the hook for funding schools? City of Eugene voters are deciding which argument is going to win.

The group Strong Schools Eugene supports the income tax Measure 20-182 for funding schools but is filing a lawsuit, claiming that a Voters’ Pamphlet statement from an opponent misquotes Mayor Kitty Piercy’s position on the tax measure.
