On Friday afternoon, two Roosevelt Middle School students left class a little early to put a last minute bid on behalf of 128 of their classmates, hoping to buy the mystery safe that their school is auctioning off as a fundraiser.

Peter Pomponi donated the safe to the Roosevelt Middle School Auction. He found it two years ago hidden in the walls of an old Central Oregon farm house. The safe hasn't been opened, so the contents of the 2-foot square cast iron safe are a mystery.

District officials said that sophomore through senior high school students are offered all the classes that they need to get a diploma. However several parents voiced their concerns after their students were not given full class schedules this year.
